Life and running

This has been on my mind
Apart from typical life is like sports cliches there is another similarity that I just realized recently. While driving across the state for thanksgiving break in that nasty storm we had it occurred to me that whatever your undertaking it should be approached like a competion of sorts. Not that you should try to cover the 300 miles from slippery rock to Lancaster in record time. In the case of the storm it was important to be confident on the road but be just scared enough that you don't do anything stupid. Before a big race I like to feel nervous to the point where I can't sleep the night before. This may seem counterproductive but it works for me and when the time comes I know I've prepared as best I can for the race to come.
3000m at Youngstown
Training is back in full swing again. I'm running the 3000m at ysu this Friday. Soon enough I'll be running 90-95 miles a week. That kind of mileage is dangerous but if done correctly can lead to massive improvements in March and May when the conference championship take place

Tech stuff
When was the first day off class? 13-14 weeks ago? This class should have been over then. The things I am good at I'm mostly self taught and self driven. I'm most likely never going to blog, photoshare or podcast again and if I do I can figure it out better on my own than in a class. There is a lot of cool and useful stuff it's just not for me.

Musings
I really don't feel like sharing my life with the internet but I have to. I capped off a 55 mile week today. I ran an easy 5 miles on the back roads in Lancaster Pa. I was going to do a tour of the Springhouse brewery in Conestoga with Tree but that plan fell through, bummer. It kinda smells like poop out here at all hours of the day.

Awesome Technology: The Smart Wheel
So this might be kind of old but it is definitely really cool. The smart wheel for a bike is an attachment that appartently stores energy from pedaling to turn your bike into a smart car type thing. This can help people cover long distances or climb hills with ease. I first saw this thing on an episode of Weeds where it was called the Coppenhagen Wheel and I remember wishing it was a real thing. I dont like driving, I have a car and I dont plan on making the 200+ mile trip to my parents house in Ohio on a bike but this is definitely something that can eliminate a lot of excess time in a car. Currently the most basic of these wheels cost around $1,200 so its out of the question for me but, fingers crossed right?
